This stream consists of two speakers: Dr. Ken Shonk: Healthy Humour will host the morning session & Erin Dermody PhD: Dark Tourism will host the afternoon session

Healing through humour looks at the short distance between humour and compassion. Focusing on the many medical benefits of humour as well as its use as a coping mechanism to deal with stress. Dark Tourism focuses on the study of the social phenomenon associated with travel to public sites of death events. Memorials (ie Twin Towers), Cemeteries, Spontaneous memorials at sites of death. Erin delves into why people visit these sites, how do they interpret events or rituals at the site, and what do they experience afterwards.

Lunch and Parking is included in the fees. Details about parking will be emailed at a later date.
